One Last Song...

Thank you to The Curious Quilter for this fun sing-along.

Christmas is Over
Sung to the tune of Christmas is Coming, the Goose is Getting Fat.
Christmas Tunes from The Curious Quilter Glee Club - notes2Christmas is over, the gifts stripped of their wraps,
All of the relatives have gone home for their naps.
I had fun while it lasted, but I'm ready to move on,
For the food is all devoured and the cookies gone!
Christmas has ended, the house is mine again!
Take down the tree and trims and find my Zen.
Can I please take out my quilting? Can I get back to my craft?
If I cannot touch some fabric soon, I may go daft!
Christmas is finished, the shopping rush is done.
Off to the fabric store to have some fun!
If I cannot buy some yardage, then a fat quarter will do,
If I want more than a fat quarter, then I'll get two!

Who'll sing with me today?

The Curious Quilter has done it again...more fun songs to share with you.

Let Me Sew! Sung to the tune of Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Oh the pattern I’ve picked is striking,
The fabric to my liking,
It’s washed and all set to go.
Let me sew! Let me sew! Let me sew!

I intend to have fun while cutting,
My skills I will be strutting.
On to piecing I’ll gladly go,
Let me sew! Let me sew! Let me sew!

When I’m finished with this new quilt,
On some old UFO’s I will start.
But for now I will feel no guilt,
I’m happy to practice my art.

My seams I will soon be pressing,
My blocks will be progressing.
My smile, how it will glow.
Let me sew! Let me sew! Let me sew!

Joy to the World! Sung to the tune of Joy to the World!

Joy to the World, the gifts are done!
I sewed for several months.
Beneath our Christmas tree
Wrapped gifts as you can see.
There’s mug rugs for my friend,
An apron for Aunt Den,
And doll clothes I made for someone’s Barbie and Ken!

Joy to the World, it’s gifting time!
Let friends and families share.
That fabric full of geese
I quilted for my niece.
I hope she’ll like it a lot,
I think she’ll like it a lot,
I know, I know—she’ll like it lots!

Joy to the World, they’re finally here!
I’m ready for their hugs.
The toddlers look so fine
In hand-stitched clothes—divine!
Eight quilted gifts I see
Waiting underneath my tree.
Tomorrow, tomorrow I’ll sew for me!

* * * * * Living with Purpose * * * * *
John 1 (KJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

All together now...

Christmas Tunes from The Curious Quilter Glee Club - notes2

Grab a cup of eggnog (or other seasonal beverage) and join in for another round of carols courtesy of The Curious Quilter (Days 2 & 3)

I'm off to wrap a few gifts so please sing nice and loudly so I will be able to hear you over the crinkling and cutting.

A very Merry Christmas to those who are already into the 25th...we are not too far behind LOL

We Wish You a Merry Christmas
Sung to the tune of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

We wish you a Merry Christmas,
But here we are at an impasse.
Is quilt-making in the forecast
For a Happy New Year?

We don’t want figgy pudding,
Just one thing will make our hearts sing.
Some nice time to spend on quilting
Will bring us good cheer!

Good tidings to you, wherever you be.
Good tidings, and time for quilting,
In a Happy New Year!

Oh Come, All Ye Quilters
Sung to the tune of Oh Come All Ye Faithful.

Oh come, all ye quilters,
Time for motivation!
Oh come ye, oh come ye to The Big Quilt Show.
Come and behold them, all the glorious fabrics.
Oh come see mitered borders,
And perfectly matched corners,
Admire some applique at
The Big Quilt Show.

Oh, there’s the winning quilt,
What an inspiration!
I am glad I came to see The Big Quilt Show.
Look at that landscape quilt! See the one with beadwork?
I see some tiny hexagons,
And wonderful hand-quilting!
Perhaps one year my quilt will win
The Big Quilt Show.

Deck the House
Sung to the tune of Deck the Halls.

Deck the house from floor to gable,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Christmas runners on the table,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Quilts on all the chairs and couches,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Wrap the gifts in quilted pouches,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
For the girls sew holiday dresses,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Then make ribbons for their tresses,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Bibs for babies, shorts for boys,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Vests for guys, and then some pet toys,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Festive hangings for the walls,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Pretty garlands for the halls,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Every bed has pillowcases,
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Quilters create smiling faces!
Fa la la la la, la la la la!

The Twelve Gifts Not Finished
Sung to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Note: I am only posting a few verses, but think you can wing it from there. This song is very repetitive!

The first gift for Christmas
That I did not get done:
A king-sized quilt that wasn’t much fun.
The second thing for Christmas
That I did not get done:
Two tote bags,
And a king-sized quilt that wasn’t much fun.
The third thing for Christmas
That I did not get done:
Three mug rugs,
Two tote bags,
And a king-sized quilt that wasn’t much fun.

Keep singing ALL the other verses, ending with:

The twelfth thing for Christmas
That I did not get done:
Twelve small wall hangings,
Eleven hearts for trimming,
Ten Christmas stockings,
Nine new potholders,
Eight fancy aprons,
Seven pillowcases,
Six placemat sets,
Five baby quilts!
Four table runners,
Three mug rugs,
Two tote bags,
And a king-sized quilt that wasn’t much fun.

Pre-cut Strips, Two-Inch Charms
Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells.

Pre-cut strips, two-inch charms, how we love them all!
Oh what fun it is to piece a quilt that’s large or small.

Large-scale prints, stripes and dots, calicoes for fall,
When we play with needle and thread we always have a ball.

Dashing through our stash, on a search for something blue,
Can’t find the right shade, must need something new!

To the shop we flash, for the perfect blue.
Some batiks and novelties will come home with us too!

Pre-cut strips, two-inch charms, how we love them all!
Oh what fun it is to piece a quilt that’s large or small.

Large-scale prints, stripes and dots, calicoes for fall,
When we play with needle and thread we always have a ball.

Tillie, the Red-Thumbed Quilter
Sung to the tune of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Tillie, the red-thumbed quilter,
Had a very well pricked thumb.
And if you ever saw it,
You would think it must be numb.

All of the other quilters
Sympathized and gave advice,
Some even talked about her,
Which was never very nice!

Then one fateful Christmas Day
Tillie was heard to say,
“Dearie me, my thumb’s so sore,
“I can’t hand-quilt anymore.”

But all her friends said, “Oh no!
“Tillie you must never stop!”
So they gave Tillie thimbles,
And took her to a fabric shop.
